Taught over nine full days, this course is open to (i) yoga instructors of all yoga traditions who have taught at least three years or (ii) graduates of the Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training. Participants must have a regular personal practice and be ready to move deeper within themselves and assist their students in the discovery of the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of yoga.

Ana Forrest designed this program to be highly experiential. The training includes chanting, pranayama, intensive yoga practice, working with injuries, addressing the needs and challenges of students, mentoring your own practice and needs, and learning the principles of class sequencing for advanced poses. You will also be taught how to work with students at different levels and abilities and with different body types.

This will be a very special weekend with the Forrest Yoga Symposium team. Join Erica, Leslie Pearlman, Denise Hopkins, and Kirsten Collins for some summer fun near the ocean. The intent for the weekend will be about bringing more pleasure, delight and fun into your life.  What better time and place for this?

Friday August 1: 6:00-8:30pm  
"Digging for Pleasure"

Friday night will begin with calling in the 4 Directions to help set the intention.  After that, we will take to our mats to explore pleasure in lots of forms.  Feeling pleasure takes a willingness to let go of old guilt, comparisons and self criticisms - the stuff that keeps us stuck.  Through deep twists and hip opening poses, we will work through the initial layers of tension and emotions that block us from feeling more liberated. The result? Your legs will feel stronger, your feet more grounded, making pleasure in your body easier to access. This special class will be taught by Erica, Denise, Kirsten & Leslie.

Saturday August 2:  9:00-11:30am
"Tapping into Delight"

What do you do when you're excited to see someone?  Throw your arms out!  What do you do when you're running through a field for an embrace (at least in the movies!)? Throw your arms out!  When you're enthused about something, your chest lifts - that's the language of the body.  Tap into your capacity for delight by teaching your back to bend and your chest to lift.  Kirsten and Erica will charm you into learning to do this.  It will be - what else? - a complete delight.

Sunday August 3: 9:00-11:30am
"Fun with Flight"

Inversions and arm balancing poses are challenging and exciting. They rejuvenate the mind and body. They increase circulation of blood, oxygen, and energy, stimulating the endocrine and immune systems. More importantly, they offer an opportunity to defy all the things that weigh us down.  Denise & Leslie will help you learn the essential elements of these powerful poses in a way that will dissolve fear and create hopeful and playful space! Learn the skills of balance and then have fun applying them to your life.

How to Build a Backbend Class and More! With Brian Campbell in Los Angeles

Learn how to build Forrest Yoga back-bending sequences from master teacher Brian Campbell! 

On Sunday, August 17 there will be a Morning class with chanting, ceremony, and asana practice. 

Then, in the afternoon,  there will be a workshop on how to sequence yoga classes for strengthening and healing the spine, how to work with injuries, and common sequencing mistakes.

This workshop is open to teachers and students from all schools of yoga.

Also, on Saturday August 16 come to the morning sound healing, yoga ceremony and community potluck!

Location will be in Brian's home studio in Palms (bordering Culver City). The address will be emailed to you after registering. You can register for just the mornings,  just the afternoon, or both.

Workshop: Join Alana for a dynamic hip opening and back bending all-levels Forrest Yoga class. In “Long Live the King!” we will breakdown King Pigeon pose in a way that you will be able to begin to feel the pose more fully in your body. We will work into poses such as sleeping pigeon, twisting pigeon, flying pigeon and tangled pigeon. In this workshop Alana will get you deeply warmed up with a hip opening sequence and safely work you up to feeling King Pigeon in your own body.

About Alana: In 2006 Alana started practicing Forrest Yoga intensely and eventually went on to complete the Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training Course in 2007. She later completed the Advanced Forrest Teacher Training in 2010 and is currently enrolled in a yearlong Forrest Yoga Mentorship with Heidi Sormaz, owner of Fresh Yoga in New Haven, CT. Forrest Yoga's strong focus on the connection between body, breath and consciousness has not only allowed Alana to work deeply in her own body, but has provided her with a solid foundation as a teacher to help guide her students in their own practice. Students have described her Forrest classes as challenging and fun! She does her best to create an environment that plays by the yogic rules of mindful breathing, alignment and non-harming to the body that allows her students to shift not only physically but mentally at their own pace. In these workshop, Sinhee will guide you to learn about yourself, what are your strong parts and what are your areas for improvement when it comes to mind and body.

August 23

9:00am-12:00pm Morning Intensive Class: Revitalizing the Spine (Back Bend)
This class is focused on the Forrest Yoga method of creating space in the spine and decompress the lower back in back bend poses. We will also learn how to engage back muscles to open up the chest, diaphragm and abdominal muscles easily in deep back bend poses. Learning to practice this way will deliver fresh blood and oxygen to the spine and realign the whole back muscles to vitalize the spine.

1:30pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon Session
The afternoon session will be on collaborating Forrest Yoga poses into the current Fitness First yoga sequences to include fun, energetic elements and how to introduce progression for everyone in your class. We will breakdown two 60-munute classes and one 90-minute class. We will teach you how to get to the targeted poses like hip opening and inversions, back bend, twists and arm balances by sequencing poses to warm up and cool down to release.

August 24

9:00am-12:00pm Morning Intensive: Connecting the Inner Line of Energy (Neck, Shoulders, and Hips)

This fun class is designed to let you experience inspiring Forrest Yoa poses like inversions, arm balances, and deep hip openings. You will learn how to use your core muscles efficiently and how to sustain the joints and muscles of your inner lines energetically with deep breathing.

1:30pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon Session
This is a tutorial session of learning Forrest Yoga hands on. You will learn basic skills of touching people with clear energy. This is about guiding each practitioner to learn their own rate of release instead of pushing or forcing a pose. We will also learn to use the connecting line of inner body energy to guide practitioners to deepen a pose. 

There is also a Master Class on August 22 (exclusive for Fitness First members)
Balancing the Core: This class will focus on how to use core muscles to support the whole body in poses. Forrest Yoga's therapeutic approach is to create space in the spine, release habitual internal tensions to connect your core muscles to function in an optimal way. There will be fun arm balances and twists for a strong and flexible core!

The themes for these workshops are:

Making The Unconscious Conscious - part 1
This workshop focuses on hip openers and inversions in order to explore ourselves further and to deepen into who we are. The emphasis is on what is happening in the moment, what is moving to the foreground and what is opening up. The workshop invites you to develop curiosity, so that you can feel what is happening physically and emotionally in every moment. 

Making The Unconscious Conscious - part 2
In the afternoon we’ll explore the theme of “Making the Unconscious Conscious” through partner and movement exercises, a light asana practice and guided writing. Please bring pen and paper and wear yoga clothing. To get the most out of the workshop and to have a more meaningful experience, we recommend to attend the morning in order to participate in the afternoon. 

Metamorphosis Through Forrest Yoga. 
This workshop stresses the transformational power of Forrest Yoga. We can only transform ourselves if we wholeheartedly accept who we are. The paradox of change states that we can’t become somebody else, but we can become more fully who we are and be more fully invested in our current situation instead of wishing for things to be different continuously. Transformation and change naturally come out of this state of acceptance. The physical focus lies on standing poses and inversion.
