Inversions and arm balancing poses are challenging and exciting. They rejuvenate the mind and body. They increase circulation of blood, oxygen, and energy, stimulating the endocrine and immune systems. Learn the skills of balance and then have fun applying them to your life.

Workshop 6: Stalking Your Fear

How does fear affect you? Interested in learning how to change your relationship to fear? Fear is a powerful emotion that dictates our decisions and hinders us from making good choices. Fear can lead to anxiety, despair and depression. Forrest Yoga teaches you a different way to relate and work with fear. It teaches you to use fear as a warning call, to listen, be alert and proceed cautiously. Fear does not have to be something that paralyzes you. In this session you will use breath and asana to access, comfort and support the parts of your body that are constricted by fear. This new approach to our fearful places brings about change immediately. Your body responds and relief can be felt immediately. You learn to move breath into these areas, stay steady, and remain present as difficult emotions surface, shift and transform. The bands that constrict your life force and contort your body begin to loosen. You will have room to breathe! When you treat your fearful parts with attention and compassion, you allow the ‘wonderful’ back into your life.

Description
The Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training is a 27-day yoga teacher training that includes 22 days of intensives (group practices) and teacher training exercises, a 3-day Anatomy Course, and a 2-day Business Course.  It is a comprehensive program for aspiring teachers, experienced teachers, and yoga students who want to work deeper within themselves.  The Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training delivers a solid foundation in the art of teaching Forrest Yoga and is the first step to becoming a Forrest Yoga Certified Teacher.

Tuition
The total standard tuition for this Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training is $5,175 US.  That amount includes the core curriculum and the Anatomy Course. 

If you opt to pay in 2 payments, a deposit of $2,200 US is due upon registration. The remaining $2,975 US is due 30 calendar days prior to the start of the Teacher Training or when the training becomes full, whichever comes first. Your spot in the training is held only upon receipt of your deposit and is guaranteed upon receipt of your full payment.

The following persons qualify for discounts on Teacher Training Tuitions:

During this two day experiential intensive course you’ll focus on:
  • The 12 structural muscles that protect the spine and hold the skeleton in place;
  • Performing muscle testing and correction techniques to complement your yoga teaching;
  • Indepth study of the anatomy of postures and the inter-relationships of the muscular skeletal systems.
These structural muscles are underused in our modern day living and underworked in most of our physical activity, yet have a huge relationship to the nervous system and functional movement.

Over the course of the two days you’ll:
  • Understand what these key muscles do, how they interact, and how pain and injury can result when they’re not functioning properly;
  • In yourself and with partners, identify, examine and test these key muscles for function or weakness;

Continuing Education for Effective Coaching and Teaching

Who this training is for:
This 5-day training is designed for Forrest Yoga Teachers who want to assist Forrest Yoga Teacher Trainings, those interested in teaching others how to teach, and those wanting to up-level their teaching and assisting skills.


Enrolment:
There are 2 different enrolment types in this training: Lead Assistant or Assistant. Lead Assistant spots are limited to 5. The requirement to enrol as a Lead Assistant is that you must have previously assisted a Forrest Yoga Teacher Training for a minimum of 5 days. No assisting experience required for an Assistant spot.

Pre-requirements:
Graduate of the Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training

Benefits:
35-hour credit towards the 300-Hour Forrest Yoga Teacher Training.
If you are a Lead Assistant in Training, you receive an additional 10 hours of credit.
Awarded Level 3 Certification if you have finished the Level 2 Homework and the Forrest Yoga Mentorship Program
Eligible to assist Forrest Yoga Teacher Trainings 

Course Description:
This training teaches Assistants how to coach and teach trainees within the Forrest Yoga teacher training curriculum. You will learn and practice coaching techniques including how to give teaching feedback, how to work with triggers and challenges that trainees face, and how to coach hands-on assists. Most importantly, you will learn how to create and hold a safe space for learning and growing.

Daily Schedule:
Each day begins with a Morning Intensive that includes Calling in the Four Directions, Chanting, and Meditation followed by an asana practice. The afternoon sessions focus on teaching you how to be an effective coach and teacher. Lead Assistants in Training also participate in the early morning practice prior to the Morning Intensive.

FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY OF YOGA
This three-day anatomy intensive with nationally renowned teacher, Ellen Heed, is highly experiential with an emphasis on sharpening each teacher's perceptual skills to better assess the needs of their students in the environment of a yoga class. This class satisfies the 20-hour anatomy requirement for the National Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification.

The art of assessment is a life-long process by which a yoga teacher gains mastery and depth as an instructor. Learn some of the short-cuts to assessment in this fun and highly informative class about the interrelationship of the Rule of Four: Biomechanics, Biochemistry, Scar Tissue, and Emotional Blockage.

In this class, you will learn to perceive:

How our Emotional Blockage expresses itself as posture and postural deviation.
How our Scar Tissue affects flexibility, even at a distance from an injury.
How genetics influences our Biomechanics and how to tell when it doesn't.
How our Biochemistry (for better of for worse can determine the pleasure of our practice.

What to expect:
Visual: There will be richly illustrated lectures and physical demonstrations. 
Aural: We will have lively and intense question and answer interactions. 
Kinesthetic: We will learn hands-on exercises combining palpation skills and bodywork technique to find out where emotions affect our energetic systems, and how to get the most out of the relaxation response.
We will also practice Experiential Anatomy Yoga, taught by one of the Forrest Yoga trainers


BIO
Ellen Heed has been educating students and clients about how to attain radiant health worldwide since the turn of the millennia. Using keen perceptual skills to accurately assess the needs of her clients, Ellen connects the dots and facilitates successful outcomes for health issues ranging from chronic pain and sexual dysfunction to emotional stagnation and nutritional imbalances.

Ellen has pioneered new techniques for scar tissue remediation for women, and is a leading anatomy educator who trains yoga teachers, Sexological Bodyworkers, and other somatic professionals in the US and abroad. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Somatic Psychology and maintains a thriving practice in Los Angeles, California.

The Forrest Yoga Continuing Education for Teachers is a 3-day teacher training that promotes powerful insights providing deeper integration with one's true self and helps teachers to become a more skillful, passionate, intelligent and authentic teacher, so you are better equipped to deal with challenges your student may have. Teaching authentically is much more effective and compelling for both you and your students.

Eligible Participants

Teachers aspiring to improve their teaching and personal practice and those that are ready to move deeper within themselves and increase the mental acuity needed to explore the rich tapestry of Forrest Yoga. A minimum number of years of teaching experience is not required.  We expect you to have the willingness, health and strength to commit to 100% of this teacher training.  

Training Overview

Taught by Sandra Robinson, one of Ana’s few Forrest Yoga Guardians, over 3-days, the objective of this teacher training is to encourage trainees to develop as individuals as well as to make you a more skilled, intelligent and authentic teacher. Awareness is a vital component when developing the skills necessary to teach from your own found truths. Through daily meditation, intensives and group instruction, trainees begin to discover the voice of their own spirit, which leads to a truly authentic life path.

Ceremony & Intensives

Each day starts off with a ceremony involving chanting, drumming and a teaching story or a fairy tale  to set the intent for the day and create the space for healing and connection to your spirit, followed by an intensive that will create a heightened sense of physical, emotional and spiritual awareness while challenging every muscle and cell in your body. Through a carefully sequenced Forrest Yoga asanas, Sandra will open you to amazing depths and feelings of awareness. You will leave feeling cleansed, refreshed and alive. The intensives are a sanctuary where you can feel safe to open up, work through issues that may arise and go beyond your perceived limitations. You will learn about yourself and feel what it is like to have freedom in your own body and mind. The intensives are sure to bring each trainee to new levels within their yoga practice.

Teacher Training

The afternoon sessions encompass 4-5 hour sessions of training and instruction. Using skill-building exercises, trainees will work with the essential elements of teaching, such as: class sequencing, explore optimal personal nutrition, work with sadhanas (spiritual exercises), learn about personal and professional ethics, effective pose sequencing, the use of safe and effective hands-on adjustments, and effective clear, concise and powerful communication, eliminating habitual phrases, and tone of voice as well as the continued development of a more charismatic presence and honesty in your class.

The Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training is a 26-day yoga teacher training that includes 22 days of intensives (group practices) and teacher training exercises, a 3-day Anatomy Course, and a 1-day Business Course.  It is a comprehensive program for aspiring teachers, experienced teachers, and yoga students who want to work deeper within themselves.  The Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training delivers a solid foundation in the art of teaching Forrest Yoga and is the first step to becoming a Forrest Yoga Certified Teacher.

The total tuition for this Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training is $5,175 US.  That amount includes the core curriculum and the Anatomy Course.  A deposit of $2,200 US is due upon registration and the remaining $2,975 US is due 30 calendar days prior to the start of the Teacher Training, or when the training becomes full. Your spot in the training is held only upon receipt of your deposit and is guaranteed upon receipt of your full payment.
